ELCA Message to 2020 Graduates

Congratulations Class of 2020!
Graduation is one of the most meaningful experiences in life. It’s a time for family and friends to joyfully gather and celebrate all of your hard work and accomplishments. Unfortunately, this global pandemic has robbed many of you from one of the most fulfilling moments in life. We recognize the deep sense of loss that you may be feeling right now, in this unprecedented time, when so much of the future is still unknown. Take heart beloved, and know that we are praying for you and your families. We pray the Holy Spirit gives you comfort, assurance, and joy as surely the best is yet to come! We are all still celebrating and thanking God for your life and all you have achieved thus far. Whether you are graduating from preschool, kindergarten, middle school, high school, post-secondary, or basic military training we are so proud of you and we know that God will continue doing amazing and unexpected things in your life.
We also want to give a special shout-out to our graduating seniors from the SEPA Youth Leadership team: Jenna Krauss from St. John’s Lutheran Church in Sumneytown, Garrett Ryan from Advent Lutheran Church in Harleysville, Sam Leonard from Grace Lutheran Church in Royersford and Brook Moyer from St. James Lutheran Church in Limerick. Thank you so much for your contribution to youth ministry over the years, synodical events like the Junior Youth Gathering would truly be impossible without you.
Though we may be uncertain of what the future holds, we know who holds the future, God, who is all knowing. God, will see you thru, remember, “For surely I know the plans I have for you, says the Lord, plans for your welfare and not for harm, to give you a future with hope.” Jeremiah 29:1. Again, we are so proud of you all, congratulations!
